Robert S. Marcus :: Chairman

Partner - Marcus & Mack, Attorney at Law

Robert Marcus is the managing partner at the law firm of Marcus and Mack with a practice in the personal injury area of law. Robert was an early investor in Apangea Learning and has supported the Company in each of the capital rounds raised to date. Robert is a past Chairman of the Indiana County Chamber of Commerce as well as the Indiana County School-to-Work Partnership. He previously held Board positions for the Indiana County Development Corporation and the Center for Economic Operations. Robert currently serves as a Director for the Board of the Indiana County United Way, the Indiana County Strategic Planning Commission, and the Foundation for Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, he is currently a Team Pennsylvania Ambassador and a member of the PA Liquor Control Board. Robert has been a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association since 1977 and holds a J.D. from the University of San Diego School Of Law and a BA from Syracuse University.

Frank Bonsal III :: Director

General Partner - New Markets Venture Partners

Frank Bonsal III has spent over twenty-five years advancing efficacy, innovation and productivity in and around education and the knowledge economy. Frank is a General Partner of New Markets Venture Partners focused on early and growth stage investments in education technology and service companies. Beginning in 1999, as Partner of Bonsal Capital, and through his role at New Markets, Frank has invested in over fifteen private education companies, most notably American Public Education, Blackboard, Capella, Headsprout, Moodlerooms, Questar Assessment, Smarthinking, Spectrum K12 and Starfish Retention Solutions. Frank is currently a Board Director of Questar Assessment and a Board Observer of eCoast Sales Solutions, Moodlerooms and Starfish Retention Solutions. For 15 years leading up to his full-time venture capital path, Frank served as teacher, advisor, coach, and administrator to students in middle and high schools. Frank serves on nonprofit education boards at Baltimore BORN, Garrison Forest School, Holderness School and the Irvine Nature Center and is a member of the President's Advisory Council at Stevenson University. He has served on numerous panels and committees on the topic of education innovation, investment and productivity and is a former President of the Board of Peabody College, Vanderbilt University. Frank has a M.Ed. and M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University and a B.A. from the University of New Hampshire.

Jack Martin :: Director

Financial Consultant

John W. (Jack) Martin is an independent financial consultant with a thirty year background as an executive and advisor in public and private companies. Jack has played a significant role in a number of financing, partnership, and purchase transactions involving businesses defined by unique intellectual property, creative people, and remarkable growth. Jack joined Groove Networks in 1998 as its vice president of finance and administration. He advised Groove and its founder Ray Ozzie on its startup plan and early financing strategy, served as its CFO, and oversaw the financing and merger transactions between Groove and Microsoft, while serving as a Board member on two venture-funded clients during this period. Jack's software industry involvement began in 1987 at Lotus Development Corporation, where he served as the corporate VP of Finance before assuming finance and business development responsibilities for a newly formed Communication Products Division. Previously, Jack served as Senior VP and CFO of Courier Corporation, a publicly held printer and specialty publisher of trade, educational and religious books. Jack has completed or managed a large number of other acquisition, divestiture, and licensing transactions during his career that began as a CPA and audit manager at Arthur Andersen after graduating from the University of Notre Dame.

Kevin McAliley :: Director

Chief Executive Officer - Apangea Learning

Kevin McAliley is the President and CEO of Apangea Learning. Prior to joining Apangea, Kevin was CEO of Triumph Learning, the award-winning remediation and test prep print and software company. He led its revenue growth from $15MM to $86MM. Kevin was also the CEO of Channel One Communications, the world's largest private satellite network, and Films Media Group, which under his leadership tripled in size in less than 4 years. Earlier in his career he led the team that launched Newbridge Educational Publishing, which grew from a business plan into an award-winning $24MM publisher. Kevin has been the principal in over $500MM of mergers and acquisitions in educational media, and has spoken at SIIA, EdNET and AEP events. He has an undergraduate degree from Harvard and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Jeffrey S. McCormick :: Director

Chairman & Managing General Partner - Saturn Partners

Jeffrey is the Chairman and Managing General Partner of Saturn. He founded Saturn in 1993 and began financing early stage companies through its broker-dealer, Saturn Capital, Inc. These financings included the extremely successful business to business e-commerce company, FreeMarkets (FMKT, acquired by ARBA); the largest U.S. biodiesel company, Twin Rivers Technologies (acquired by FELDA); the 2007 high-tech offering, Constant Contact (CTCT); and the extremely popular Boston Duck Tours. Jeffrey has over 20 years of experience as an investment banker, entrepreneur and venture capitalist. He currently serves on the boards of MooBella, American Made, SureLogic, Knopp Neurosciences, Applied Clean Tech and NHXS. Prior to founding Saturn, Jeffrey was an acquisition and syndication specialist with Bariston Associates, Inc., a Boston firm that originated and managed private investments for individual and institutional clients, predominately in telecommunications.
