Apangea's leadership team consists of individuals with strong backgrounds in education and technology. Apangea has strong technical resources, along with content-development and instructional design prowess that enables it to harness advanced Web technologies to the latest educational research in order to dramatically improve learning outcomes.

Kevin McAliley :: Chief Executive Officer

Kevin McAliley is the President and CEO of Apangea. He has led four educational companies to strong growth and actively supports important K-12 causes.

Prior to joining Apangea, Kevin was CEO of Triumph Learning, an award-winning remediation print and software company. He led Triumph’s growth from $15MM to $86MM in revenue, and more than quintupled the size of its workforce to 450 employees. Previously, Kevin lead Films Media Group to become the largest distributor of visual media for Higher Ed and Advanced Placement by securing the distribution of the world’s pre-eminent educational producers such as the BBC and NHK. While Kevin was CEO, Films tripled in size in less than 4 years. Earlier in his career, he led the team that launched the early literacy publisher, Newbridge Educational Publishing, which grew from an idea into an award-winning $24MM company renowned for the quality of its nonfiction titles for children. Kevin also ran the Channel One network, advised the Walt Disney Company on educational matters, and has been the principal in over $500MM of mergers and acquisitions in educational media. He is a frequent national speaker including at SIIA, EdNET and AEP events, and has served on the Executive Committee of the Association of Educational Publishers.

Kevin actively supports the K-12 community. He was recognized by New York City Schools Chancellor Joel Klein for his work on behalf of high-needs PS 40. After being Principal For A Day at PS 40, Kevin raised over $100,000 in cash, books, infrastructure and supplies for that and other New York City schools. Kevin lead fund-raising for schools impacted by Hurricane Katrina, 9/11, and flooding in Texas. Kevin received an award from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children along with FBI Director Louis Freeh and America's Most Wanted host John Walsh for educating children on Internet safety. In addition he was honored for his work on behalf of The Campaign For Tobacco Free Kids and the Association of Hispanic School Administrators. He began his career at the WGBH Educational foundation where he was a member of Emmy Award-winning production teams at the flagship PBS station, WGBH-TV.

Kevin has an undergraduate degree from Harvard College and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Peter Cipkowski :: VP of Marketing

Peter Cipkowski, Vice President of Marketing for Apangea Learning, brings an enormous commitment to technology that motivates and improves achievement for under performing and disenfranchised students. With roots in the Special Education classroom and the American Foundation for the Blind, Peter has overseen marketing, product management and product development in math and literacy at Scholastic and Pearson and has launched and marketed more than a few breakthrough programs, including READ 180, FASTT Math, Do The Math, DRA and Good Habits Great Readers. He is especially motivated by evidence of what works, students who struggle and pragmatic technology. Peter is also the author of two books for young adults, Revolution in Eastern Europe and Crisis in the Gulf, both published by John Wiley. Peter earned his undergraduate degree from Bard College and completed his Masters in History Education from Carnegie Mellon (and is thrilled to be back in Pittsburgh).

Robert Delach :: Chief Financial Officer

Bob is the Chief Financial Officer for Apangea Learning, Inc. Bob also has substantial executive management experience with a variety of early stage and growth companies. He was one of the founding shareholders and CFO of MRO Direct, Inc. - a company that provided supply chain procurement efficiencies for indirect materials. He has served as CEO of Falcon Plastics - a plastics manufacturing turnaround; CFO at Geospatial Systems-a technology turnaround, CFO at Mobile Fusion - a robotics startup and CFO at Mallet Technology a software and engineering concern. He began his early career in public accounting and developed his financial management and organization skills at Servistar Corporation where he spent 13 years working his way to a Vice President of Financial Planning position with True Value after the merger of the two hardware industry giants. Bob has served as a Director on a two Boards; a commercial entity and an industrial development organization as well as advisory Boards for a few early stage companies. He is a Certified Public Accountant and member of the PICPA and AICPA. He has a B.S. in Accounting, from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.

Marc Keller :: SVP of Sales

Marc Keller brings 15 years of educational sales and marketing experience to Apangea. Prior to joining Apangea, Marc was Senior Vice President of Sales for Triumph Learning, a supplemental remediation and test prep company, where he led the sales team as it grew revenue from $15MM to $86MM. While at Triumph, he doubled the size of the sales force and increased sales rep ROI by coordinating hiring of new reps with product launches and market opportunities, and effective marketing support. Marc spent significant time working with customers in the field, enabling him to communicate and integrate an educator perspective throughout the organization. He holds an undergraduate degree from California University of Pennsylvania. Marc was awarded executive education certificates by the University of Chicago Business School and Harvard Business School.

Louis Piconi :: SVP of Strategic Activities/Co-Founder

As co-founder and Senior Vice President of Strategic Activities for Apangea, Louis focuses on building relationships to implement state level programs and developing the long-term competitive position of Apangea Learning's solutions. Lou is passionate about explaining how Apangea can dramatically improve learning outcomes. Prior to founding Apangea Learning, Louis launched WiredOrg.com, an innovative Intranet startup company and served as COO of CommNav, Inc., an early stage portal infrastructure company. He was also Managing Director of the IT Networks for the Pittsburgh Technology Council (PTC). Louis earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The Pennsylvania State University and his MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.

Janet Pittock :: VP of Education

Janet Pittock is the Vice President of Education at Apangea. Prior to joining Apangea, Janet was Managing Director of Mathematics at Scholastic, Inc., where she collaborated with Marilyn Burns on the best-selling math intervention program, Do The Math. Janet also led the marketing and product development teams at Creative Publications, an innovative supplemental math publisher that published The Problem Solver and MathLand, fueling the growth of Creative Publications from under $10MM to over $100MM in sales. Throughout her career, Janet has volunteered for leadership positions in national mathematics professional organizations, including the National Council of Supervisors of Math and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). She currently chairs the TODOS LIVE! online professional development project aimed at encouraging equitable and high quality mathematics education for all students, particularly Hispanic/Latino students, funded by an NCTM Mathematics Education Trust grant. She has spoken at many national conferences, most recently the annual conference of the Association of State Supervisors of Math. She has authored more than 25 books and developed and edited over 200 books and software programs. Janet earned her Bachelors in Human Development with an emphasis in Cognitive Development and her multi-subject teaching credential from the University of California at Davis.

Jeremy Trabucco :: VP of Operations and Account Services

As Vice President of Operations and Account Services, Jeremy is responsible for program implementation, online tutoring, and customer service. Jeremy joined Apangea in 2009, and led a 145% growth in the number of students using the program during his first two years. Prior to joining Apangea, he was an Executive-In-Residence at the Idea Foundry, a highly regarded technology incubator. Jeremy has broad software management experience at a variety of companies. As Vice President of Sales at ARCCA, a visual design technology company he grew revenue by 100%, which drove a 50% increase in company profitability in three years. As a General Manager at IKON, a legal document software company, he scaled operations to enable 200% in sales growth, and co-developed and launched a business solution that increased IKON's revenue by 50% in its first year. He has both served on several business and non-profit boards and as an adjunct professor of strategic planning at Point Park University. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration and Management from Slippery Rock University.

James Wrubel :: Chief Technology Officer

James is the Chief Technical Officer for Apangea Learning. Prior to joining Apangea, James was a Technical Manager at Carnegie Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute where he created the Virtual Training Environment, an online learning platform for Federal and Defense information technology and computer security training that grew to reach over 100,000 learners across the globe. Prior to that James worked for companies in the interactive and Internet infrastructure as a software engineer and project manager, most notably Arnold Worldwide. At Arnold James led the development of the entire consumer-facing web presence of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. He also worked at BBN (now owned by Level3), one of the early architects of the Internet. James has been an invited speaker at several Department of Defense, IEEE and Sloan-C e-learning conferences. He has an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and a Master's of Science from Carnegie Mellon University.

Glen Zollman :: Director, State Implementations

As Director of State Implementation, Glen oversees state-wide Apangea programs. He works closely with Departments of Education and State Legislators, to ensure positive implementation and provide continual consultative support. Glen recently moved into the State Implementation Director position, after he successfully launched Apangea's first state-wide program as the Lead Implementation Specialist. Prior to joining Apangea, Glen developed content and assessment tools, along with rewriting the secondary math standards for both the Boise School District and the Idaho State Department of Education. Glen also brings to Apangea fourteen years of classroom experience as a high school and college math teacher. Glen earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Idaho and his MBA from University of Phoenix.
